It may not look like it’s up to much right now, but Mount View on Greystones’ main thoroughfare will soon be a bustling hive of activity.
And, as any fule knows, if you’re going to be bustling, you gonna need caffeine. Lots and lots of caffeine.
Yep, the new retail, residental and offices centre is ready for rentals, and one of the units is, of course, a coffee shop.
Because if there’s one thing Greystones doesn’t have enough of, it’s coffee shops.
The only question is, will the town’s other new mini-retail centre across the road, at Waverly House, get their beans roasting before the Mount View gang whip up their froth?
Whoever takes on this foodie town’s latest eaterie will need deep pockets, given the unsurprisingly high rates.
The rent is negotiable, apparently, but the asking price for the restaurant operation is €75,000 per annum, envisaging a 10-year lease, with a review after five years. Rates on that would be around €9,000, whilst the €55,000 per annum rental available would have approximately €7,000 in rates added on.
Boom! Anyone for a €150 cappuccino…?
Given the struggles one of the town’s larger restaurants is reportedly having with staff wages – and morale, and P45s – it’s going to take quite a bit of faith and a very large chunk of loose change to take Mount View on.
Then again, after gossip and resentment, coffee is pretty much Greystones’ no.1 industry.
You can take a tour of Mount View’s former family home gloryhere.
