National Broadband Ireland’s Slow Connection
Under 25% of available homes connected
In advance of the Fibre-to-the-Home roll out, the NBP was designed to provide Broadband Connection Points nationwide. These facilities – which include sports clubs, community centres and tourist sites – are there to provide free public access to high-speed internet in the rollout area.
In total, there are 15,781 premises in the Intervention Area (IA) in County Wicklow, which includes homes, farms, commercial businesses and schools.

What’s nuts is that we have fibre running past our home here in Applewood but we cannot actually get fibre. The cable is 20 metres from our front door. Because most residents here can already get 30/40mbs speeds, we’re not on their plan. How hard would it be to hook us up?
