About Kilcoole Community First Responders
⦿ Volunteer-Driven Emergency Support: Kilcoole CFR is a dedicated team of trained volunteers supporting the National Ambulance Service by responding to life-threatening emergencies such as cardiac arrests, strokes, and choking incidents.

⦿ Extensive Coverage Area: While based in Kilcoole, our services extend to Greystones, Newcastle, Newtownmountkennedy, and Kilmacanogue, often collaborating with neighboring CFR groups to ensure rapid response across these communities.

⦿ Rapid Response via Text Alerts: CFRs are volunteers who are alerted by text when someone calls an ambulance. In many cases, we are the first on the scene, providing critical care before the arrival of paramedics.

⦿ Importance of Immediate Action: When someone experiences a cardiac arrest, it’s crucial to administer CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as quickly as possible. Immediate intervention can significantly increase the chances of survival.

⦿ Public Access AEDs: We monitor and take care of the public access AEDs in the Kilcoole and Newtown area.

⦿ Growing Team: Our team has recently expanded to 13 active members. Our goal is to equip each member with a personal AED to enhance our emergency response capabilities.

Current Fundraising Efforts
⦿ Goal to Acquire Additional Defibrillators: We’re actively fundraising to purchase at least three more AEDs to ensure each responder is equipped with this life-saving device.

⦿ Participation in VHI Women’s Mini Marathon: Our team is participating in the VHI Women’s Mini Marathon to raise funds. Supporters can contribute or join our fundraising efforts through our iDonate page here.

⦿ AIB Community €1 Million Fund Nomination: We’re in the running for the 2025 AIB Community €1 Million Fund. Public votes are crucial to our success. Voting opens on May 14th. Please keep an eye on our social media channels for the voting link and support us in securing some funding.
