Beauty & The Beating

The life of a model is a notoriously tough one, but it’s possible that local girl Olga de Vignat is the only one on the planet who can literally kick the competition’s ass.

And that’s because Olga – who runs the Killincarrig Stores along with her petrified hubby – is every bit as dedicated to boxing as she is to modelling.

“The two are very closely related for me,” smiles the Charlesland mother of two when we met up this afternoon. “Both involve a degree of fitness, and discipline, and constantly striving to be better than you were yesterday. It’s just that one is a little more dangerous than the other.”

We’re sure Olga is referring to the boxing, but, given the amount of catfights and burnouts in the modelling world, you never know.

Over the coming weeks, both of Olga’s passions will be put to the test, firstly when she takes to the ring for the White Collar Boxing‘s fundraising event on March 10th. Secondly, and just eight days after her boxing bouts, Olga will be competing in the International Runway Achievers And Recognition Awards 2017, having been nominated in the Woman Of The Year and the Mrs Fitness categories. Recent Guide cover girl Jadvyga Petrikiene is also nominated for Miss Natural Beauty.

This rookie competition is in only its second year, with its wobbly website and mildly ridiculous title suggesting the operation is far from professional. We attempted to contact the organisers this afternoon, to find out a little more about their operation, but we’ve yet to receive a reply. 

Still, there’s no doubt the International Runway Achievers And Recognition Awards 2017 will give everyone competing a welcome ego boost. In all 45 categories., including Most Inspirational Director Of The Year, Most Supportive Pageant Mum and Junior Miss Inspirational.
