Kilcoole GAA Handed €2,000 Fine For Brawl

haos and fists broke out at the end of an October Under 15D final between Carnew and Kilcoole.

The spark occured just as the final whistle blew and a Carnew player was sent off.

Played at Wicklow’s GAA Centre Of Excellence at Ballinakill on October 9th, the post-match brawl that then ensued involved not only players but adult club members too.

Kilcoole had won the match 3-8 to 0-9, and after order was restored, they were presented with the cup as both teams and their supporters mixed without further incident.

And now both clubs have been handed down fines by Wicklow GAA, who had reacted immediately on October 9th to the ‘totally unacceptable behaviour from a number of people’.

With a number of members from both clubs being suspended for 48 weeks, Kilcoole was given a €2,000 fine whilst Carnew is believed to have received a €3,000 fine.

When asked by the Bray People if they planned on appealing the fine, Kilcoole GAA issued a statement saying that it was ‘a matter between ourselves and the GAA authorities’.
