Call For Kilcoole Zebra Crossing To Be Reinstated

Tesco Express follows the Green Cross Code…

esidents of Kilcoole have expressed their disappointment at the removal of a zebra crossing on their main street.

That it’s a zebra crossing into the busy Centra car park makes it all the more unacceptable.

“This is a vital zebra crossing,” says Sarah Jane Tenei, “used daily by school children and other pedestrians. This is right at a busy bus stop, and right at the door of Centra, at the entrance to their car park. There had been a speed bump with a zebra crossing painted on top, but after falling into disrepair, the speed bump and with it the zebra crossing has been removed…”

That Tesco Express on the other end of town has two zebra crossings makes this decision all the more baffling to Sarah. Which is why she has started a petition.

“There is currently no stop sign, or yield sign, at this junction now,” she continues, “never mind a zebra crossing. This makes for a very dangerous junction for pedestrians…

“Wicklow County Council need to reinstate it now. Before someone gets hurt…

“It’s just a crazy decision…”
