h, the fine art of axe throwing, where hipsters can be real men for the afternoon, savagely killing wood with skill and finesse, but in a totally safe and supportive environment.

What’s not to love…?

Having knocked ’em dead with three top 20 rankings at the recent International Axe Throwing Championships in Germany – where Greystones girl Kelly Lynch became something of a viral hit with a sweet bullseye [see below] – the Irish team have now set their sights on some Nordic Championship titles.

Currently taking place in Hammerdal, Sweden, there are five local hopefuls on the team – Hugh Carroll, Tony Duddy, Brendan Farrell, Matt Wilson and the mighty Kelly Lynch. Anto Calvin from The Happy Pear was meant to be there too, but, the poor lad suffered a, eh, spider bite.

Which, as we all know, can be lethal to a hipster.

Also travelling over from Wicklow are Ashley Glover, Heath Dawson, Matze John, Leigh Standing, Oona Standing and Anna Marie Leonard, whilst Dubliner Matt Levell has been brought along for protection.
