I think if Andre Tarkovsky was given a screenplay written by JG Ballard and told he had limitless budget to create scenes using only Playmobil men, he could not have come up with a more depressing a dystopian nightmare. Utter utter sh1tshow. If I wasnt crying, Id laugh.
Will they ever learn that the County needs to build the infrastructure before the houses come
Same nonsense with the Rocky Road from M11 to Wicklow town. Closed all summer for improvements, scheduled to reopen on 29 August.
It reopened at the end of October.
This roadworks is an absolute clown show. The incompetence and slipshod manner both the works and road traffic management is being conducted is appaling. It is absolutely no surprise to any of the residents to hear of these delays. The actual road is going to be narrower than it was. But will now have a busy bus route to cope with as well as traffic that must be treble what it was 5 years ago. the two cycle lanes will be great for the few cyclists that will use it on the 2 or 3 dry weeks of the school year. Meanwhile the wildlife habitat and what was left of any original stonemasonry etc is obliterated. Not for a second suggesting that there is anyone in charge.. but if there is.. they should be made accountable… no doubt this will cost many many millions more than initially budgeted for. As with all the development and continuing destruction of the Delgany/Greystones area this is an utter utter shit show.
You are so right. Bloody road engineers! They wouldn’t know an “aesthetic “ if it bit them in the ass. Every time they do a project they wreck a bit more of the area. WCC are the utter pits among local authorities.
And next? Killincarrig improvements. No doubt they will destroy any bit of character around the Orchard and take twice as long as planned to do so.
The refurb of chapel Road has been a mess from the start of the first half of works which started in roughly February 2025. So yes, we have lost access to this road for over a year. As it stands now, it may be a year and a half in total by the end of the debacle before people can access the 3 schools, and Lidl.
If we had a reliable bus service this was a perfect opportunity to convert some drivers/school users to it. As we don’t, this whole debacle has increased road users time on the roads getting to and from schools and other needs. Also increased is the milometer on cars, thus reducing their selling value. On top of which the general condition of the local roads has caused countless punctures.
Someone should be held accountable for this disaster.
