The funding, distributed by the Irish Men’s Sheds Association (IMSA), is part of a wider package supporting 369 Men’s Sheds nationwide. Grants of up to €3,000 per shed have been provided to help meet day-to-day operational costs such as heating, electricity and insurance.
The Wicklow sheds receiving funding are: Arklow (€1,830.69), Aughrim (€622.93), Baltinglass (€2,033.16), Bray (€2,550.74), Kilcoole (€1,159.18), Newtown and Newcastle (€1,885.88), Purple House Cancer Care (€3,000),
Rathdrum (€2,550.53), Rathnew (€2,092.45), Roundwood (€1,220.91), Tinahely (€2,143.42), Vale of Avoca (€2,158.51), Valleymount (€2,187.84), and Wicklow (€1,462.41).
They provide a welcoming, supportive space where men can come together, share skills, and look out for one another. The work they do in tackling social isolation and supporting mental health is invaluable.
“I am delighted that 14 sheds across our county are receiving this much-needed support, with grants reaching communities from Arklow to Baltinglass, and from Bray to Tinahely. This funding will make a real, practical difference helping to keep the doors open.”
