Greystones Cancer Support have jumped on board a nationwide drive to create the world’s biggest-ever knitted blanket.

Organised initially by Valery Larkin, the Ennis housewife first teamed up with the Irish Red Cross for her record bid.

The hope is that people will knit wool squares of 6″ x 6″, and these will all be then made into blankets, loosely joined together to form, yep, one dirty great big, record-breaking blanket.

When the record attempt is over, this large blanket will then be broken up into smaller 5ft-square blankets to be used around the country as well as being sent overseas to refugees.

For their part, Greystones Cancer Support have all the details on needle size, wool, colours and designs. They can also provide you with the wool, if needed.
