he bould Mary Bannon has been on the blower, to tell us all about the pretty much historic Errigal Bridge Club.

A club that has actually been around longer than The Greystones Bridge Centre on Victoria Road.

A centre that plays host to seven different bridge clubs in the town.

“Our club would have been part of the formation of that HQ in 1992,” Mary tells us, “and we’ve been going strong for all these years.

“We have to give a shout-out to Eoin Mac Neill, of course, who was the man who first suggested that the town needed a dedicated building for all of Greystones’ bridge clubs, and he would have sparked all the fundraising over the years to finally make it a reality.”

Meeting every Friday evening at 7.30pm, the club is always keen to welcome new players. Members can bring along a friend too, except on competition nights.

The president of Errigal Bridge Club is Ms Bannon with Emer Roberts its vice president, John Yek its honorary secretary and Ronan Nolan its honorary treasurer, whilst the club committee comprises of Carol Pye, Annette McCarthy, Roisin Moloney, Fiona Nolan, Rose Wallace, Colm Morrissey and Noel Carthy.

All grades are catered for, with classes for absolute beginners at the centre every Wednesday and Friday at 10am.
