Here in my car…

he sun was out, and so were a whole field of happy campers on Friday night as the Greystones Drive-In got underway.

With screenings all weekend, Jurassic Park started proceedings with a roar and a few screams too.

That everyone there was in the comfort of their own cars – their home-away-from-home stuffed with tupperware, tinnies and treats – meant the night was a winner even before your man T-Rex got it on all over Grattan Evans’ field.

The brainchild of St Patrick’s National School – and, in particular, PTA chair Kyle O’Connell (who just happens to run Irish Film & Television Services) – having the largest outdoor screen Wicklow has ever seen meant this was a night out at the movies like no other.

And with The Greatest Showman today at 1pm and Top Gun at 6pm and, on Sunday, the live-action version of The Lion King at 1pm followed by the all-singing, all-dancing, all-naff Footloose at 6pm, there’s still time to join in on the big-screen magic. The €30 per car admission all goes to 11 good causes, as schools from Greystones, time chance Delgany and beyond all benefit from the weekend extravaganza. Full details right over here.
