Farrankelly Social Housing Gets The Thumbs Up

ith amendments requested by local residents having now been approved, the 24 social houses in Farrankelly has now been approved.

The homes will consist of nine 1-bedroom apartments (1 & 2 storey), 12 2-bedroom houses (two storey) and 3 3-bedroom houses (two storey).

The original application by Wicklow County Council stated, ‘In accordance with provisions of Part XI of the Planning Acts 2000 (as amended) and Part 8 of the Planning And Development Regulations (as amended), notice is hereby given that Wicklow County Council proposes to construct 24 1- & 2-storey residential units, and all associated works at a site adjacent to Farrankelly Close, Greystones, Co. Wicklow.

‘It is also proposed to create a new pedestrian ramp and steps to provide a new pedestrian route from Farrankelly Close to the Kilcoole road.‘

The deadline for submissions and observations was December 15th last, and amendments approved today concern street lighting, parking and other cosmetic features.

Suffice to say, it’s great to see more social housing being constructed in the area. Especially social housing that’s not on a flood plain.
