GCC Are South Leinster Junior D1 Shield Champions

On Thursday, March 20th, Greystones Community College captured the South Leinster Junior D1 Shield after digging deep to defeat Bunclody Vocational College.

After a difficult start, the players got to grips with their opponents and took a slender lead into the half time break.

Bunclody started the second half stronger and brought the game back level. GCC fought hard and through an excellence move found the back of the net. The game was end to end with both teams showing exceptional scores. Greystones Community College had a narrow lead going into the final minutes when Bunclody found a last gasp goal to bring the game to extra time.

Extra time was a hard battle for both teams which had GCC ahead at half time by two points. An outstanding team move seen Rory Gill score the deciding goal which had Greystones Community College crowned champions 3-15 to 2-12.

GCC Captain Aaron Byrne was presented with the shield as proud coaches Mr. Cullen and Mr. Hughes watched on.
