Gonna Get Myself Connected

When Aideen Walton from the Greystones Players asked GG if we wanted to have a chat with some hot Irish acting talent in the shape of Hugh O’Conor, well, we jumped at the chance.

The star of such acclaimed hits as The Young Poisoner’s Handbook, Chocolat and TV sketch show, Your Bad Self…? Feck, yeah!

Only, it was more of a case of feck, no. Crosswires. Aideen was talking about hot Irish acting talent in the shape of Hugh and Conor, two of the 16 cast members taking part in the Greystones Players’ new production, Connections.

Given just how wonderful their debut production of Dancing At Lughnasa had been, we knew these guys would be worth talking to. Besides, GG is always happy to talk to artists around here, especially those as enthusiastic and plainly in love with what they do as Hugh Jordan and Conor Horan.

Proof that the acting bug can strike at any age, both of these happy thespians have been honing their acting skills for the past few years – a relatively new passion, now shared, despite the fact that Hugh is 69 and Conor is just 19.

Appearing on stage together in Michael Frayn’s Audience, Hugh will play the frustrated writer of a play within the play whilst Conor is portaying the young teen who really didn’t want to be dragged along to the theatre. One of four one-act plays under the umbrella of Connections, Greystonians will get to see the end result at The Whale from Thursday, November 23rd to Saturday the 25th. You can find out more here.
