It’s because we’re so frickin’ handsome – and wealthy, all these producers and station owners using us to chase down the big-spender ABC1 groups.
And now it’s the turn of the hit TV show Gogglebox.
Inspired by The Royle Family – and, indeed, originally narrated in the UK by that sitcom’s creators and stars, Craig Nash and the late Caroline Aherne – Gogglebox is a TV show where TV watchers watch people on TV watching TV.
How could that not be a hit?
Having arrived in sunny Ireland on September 22nd last year, the show has proven to be a major success.
Which means the two lovely ladies from Greystones who will be making their Gogglebox debut this coming Wednesday night, March 1st, may just have to adjust their inner sets for all that fame and, eh, fortune that will surely ensue.
We were going to talk to the telly-loving twosome this afternoon, but GG hit one or two snags.
Firstly, one of them is currently sitting pretty pissed off at an aiport, their flight home last night have been postponed for 24 hours. They were on holidays, so, you know, feck ’em. Secondly, the lady who is around has been given strict instructions by the producers of Gogglebox to Talk To No One Whatsoever About Your Bloody Involvement In The Show.
Or words to that effect.
With a press release due to hit newsdesks around the country early Tuesday morning announcing this week’s new Gogglebox goons, luckily, GG is friends with one of the Irish show’s producers, and he’s given us the go-ahead to reveal who the local cathode-ray-consuming cuties are.
So, roll dat drum…
It’s the globe-trotting Laura Wood and her bestest buddy, the dog-loving -and, occasionally, dog-grooming – Aisling Kemp!
