The orchestra will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, a symphony in 4 movements that is boisterous, intense and has all the energy needed for a dark January evening – hold on to your seats! The second movement, Allegretto, is probably the most well known and was so popular that audiences demanded an encore when it was first performed in Vienna on 8 December 1813.
In addition to the Beethoven 7, our wind section will perform Gounod’s Petite Symphonie, a work scored for flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn. A beautiful piece of music and a great opportunity to hear woodwind and brass at their very best.
Not to be left behind, our string section will play Max Bruch’s Serenade on Swedish folk melodies, a delightful composition published posthumously in 1916.
celebration of live classical music conducted by Cillian O Breachain.
