It’s the happily ever after that just keeps on giving, as the residents of Windgates were tonight present for the unveiling of Greystones latest defibrillator.
A defibrillator that they had basically paid for. By presenting the Greystones Fire Brigade with a great big wad of thank yous after their 35 homes on Bray Head were saved from July’s raging four-day blaze.
Present were many of those residents, there to help launch the new defibrillator but also to receive their completion certificates, having trained in CPR at this very station only three weeks ago. And the man who trained them, Maurice from Premier First Aid, was here tonight too.
Mainly because he heard there would be free chocolate chip cookies.
Also here were many of the rescue services involvedin thatfour-day battle, including thecoast guards and local gardaí, whilst thecrucial help of three other fire stations– Bray, Wicklow and Rathnew –was acknowledged, as well as thesterling work by the Irish Air Corps.
After a speech from fire station spokesman Ciaran Hayden, Cathaoirleach Nicola Lawless and Windgates resident Joe Taylor, Simon Harris did the honours of handing out the certificates before we all headed outside for the unveiling of the plaque to mark the gift to the town from the firemen via those thankful Bray Headers. Or should that be the other way round…?
We were going to include just one video from the night here, but, hey, we might as well give you four. Just because we love you all so much. And because this was a night where everyone present deserve their moment in the sun…
