Just say neigh…
here was much whooping and hollering – and gunfire into the clouds –
up in Kilmac when their annual horse show made a welcome return last year to the great outdoors.
Having been a virtual event for visitors in 2021 though, the committee were delighted to invite everyone back this
year to Mary and Syl Fenelon Bourke’s Enniskerry Horse Farm this weekend.
Starting out as a Horse Show & Pony Gymkhana in 1972, this annual Hay market has grown into Wicklow’s biggest annual equine event. And this year, alongside the horse, pony, dog, donkey and sheep classes there will also be both adult and children’s baking and crafting events alongside preserve and wildflower workhops.
Charity partners this year were Purple House, Lakers, Newcourt School, Riding For The Disabled Association Ireland, Charabanc, Irish Kidney Association, Kilmacanogue Senior Citizens, Kilmacanogue GAA, Wicklow Dementia Support, Wicklow Hospice, Enniskerry Welcomes and Open Door.
Congrats to all the winners – and participants – on the day. Whoever you may be. We haven’t gotten the list from the organisers yet, who may very well be in bed until Tuesday.
Clearly a lot of equine fun was had by all, including the mighty Gerry Kelly, who took these rather fine shots of the mane event. Â
