Kilquade’s Arboretum Gets Supersized

ne of Wicklow’s most acclaimed – and award-winning – garden centres, Arboretum over in Kilquade is about to get a major makeover.

We’re talking €4m of a makeover, making the place bigger, better, and a longer walk.

Due to start next month, the redevelopment of the 2,390m² garden centre will see the retail and plant areas covered by a roof, meaning that customers can shop in peace.

Even during a typical Irish summer’s day.

With the café also included, the floor area of the new development alongside the 17 exhibition gardens will span an incredible six acres.

In Wicklow Planning terms, that’s just under 5,000 houses.

The Doyle family-owned garden centre will be opened during the entire refurbishment period, although the café will be in a temporary structure alongside the garden plants and gifting range.

That temporary home will be operational from August 8th whilst construction will begin on Monday, August 14th.

The new-look Arboretum Kilquade is expected to open in spring 2024. More details here.
