On the one hand, you want to highlight all the good work and happy meals on offer, but there’s also the need to give an honest, frank and unfiltered gut reaction.
And then it struck us – honest, frank, unfiltered, gut… our man Elvis has all these qualities, and then some, practically bursting out of his Vegas jumpsuit.
Yep, The Artist Formerly Known AsAlan Adamson wouldn’t know a false emotion or a poisoned opinion if it came up and bit him on the pelvis.
Having recentlyrocked the bejiggers out of The Whale for his professional stage debut, we thought it would be nice to treat the living legend to a few free lunches in this town. And let him wax lyrical-verging-on-hysterical after each one, that formidable gut reaction delivered completely unedited, so all that truth, joy and indigestion can come shining through.
With a general rule of keeping it close to or under €20, first up, we hit Café Grey in the heart of Greystones for our sunny afternoon nosh-up.
Both of us opted for their Ham & Cheese Toastie, made with Finbarr’s honey-baked ham and Wicklow farmhouse cheese. Because we’re simple folk, with simple tastes. And we both love melted cheese on just about anything.
The big question is though, was this a lunch fit for a King…?
