Portraits That Really Stand Out

ou can tell the second you meet up with Lindsay O’Donnell that the lady loves cats.

Then again, she is blessed with the super-friendly Squire, five years a stray before being scooped up in Canada and brought over here to Ireland.

“I always say that art has always been my North Star, and Squire is my muse,” smiles Lindsay. “I totally get how people fall so deeply in love with their pets, given the unconditional love that’s involved, on both sides.

“And what I’m trying to do with these portraits is always capture some of that love…”

It’s an approach that certainly seems to be working. Having studied sculpting, casting and molding alongside more traditional art forms such as sketching, pastels and painting, Lindsay started out making quirky earrings, then even quirkier bolo ties (those laced pendant ties dapper cowboys favour), before finding her greatest passion – 3D sculpted pet portraits.

“It’s just something that finally pulled all my training, and my personal loves, together, and it just took off,” explains Lindsay. “The reaction was pretty much instant, and I’ve had incredible messages from people who said good morning to their pet’s portrait every day…”
