Open seven days a week, and providing every kid – of every age – with all the tree-climbin’, high-flying fun they could possibly hope for, Squirrel’s Scramble has, in two very short years, established itself as one of Wicklow’s finest outdoor attractions.
It was back in June 2013 that Paul Pascoe and Chris Lang first came together with the idea of building a tree adventure park like no other, a place that would promote in kids such rather handy life skills as coordination, problem solving, balance, confidence and, of course, a love for the great outdoors.
Spread over two acres in the beautiful grounds of Killruddery House and Gardens in Bray, Squirrel’s Scramble boasts 40 different challenges on 4 different levels (from 1.5m to 8m), all there to be conquered with some climbing, a little balance, the occasional slide and even the odd bout of crawling. Best of all, you get to regularly zoom along zip lines. Through the trees! Like Tarzan!
Giving them a 5-minute break from their seven-days-a-week fun and games, we swung by Killruddery to chat with the second- and the third-hardest working men in Wicklow (we’re first!) and have a look around this local adventure paradise. Paul and Chris – who were lured away from Germany and South Africa respectively by two fine Wicklow women – clearly know what they’re doing. And they clearly have fun doing it…
Squirrel’s Scramble is open seven days a week, from 10am to 6pm, whilst their upcoming ProActive Kids Summer Camps – starting in June – are now open for bookings.
