Last night at Hillside Church, Sandra Fernandes, the Church team and the ReLoved team pulled off something very special indeed.
Part fashion show, part community celebration, part Oscars red carpet, and part The Devil Wears Prada, only with more heart, more hugs and considerably less fear.
Miranda Priestly would have been proud.
Possibly even smiled.
The church was full to the rafters, with a warm welcome reception that set the tone from the moment people arrived. Friends, families, volunteers, neighbours, and half of Greystones seemed to have turned up along with a runway cast that included models from all over the world, as well as some very familiar local faces.
And that was the real magic of the night. We would like to thank the Greystones Guide for their great promotion of this charity event for the Vision Impaired Community & sustainability in fashion.
At the heart of it all was Sandra, the vision behind the ReLoved fashion show who has managed to turn pre-loved fashion into something far bigger than clothes. Yes, it is
about sustainability, circularity, and style. But last night showed that, in Sandra’s hands, it is also about confidence, kindness, connection and community.
And then there was Orla Madden, who did what Orla does best: connected people. A professionally trained make-up artist and personal stylist, Orla
brought together a wonderful group of volunteer models, helped shape the looks, did the make-up, and added that unmistakable local magic that only a true altruistic connector can bring.
The runway mixed ReLoved treasures with beautiful haute couture pieces from Lidiia Myronenko and Carlos V Garcia, giving the evening just the right amount of drama and fashion artistry.
But beyond the fashion, the applause, and the camera flashes, this was a night that showed what ReLoved can be at its very best: inclusive, joyful, stylish, sustainable, and deeply human.
And it wouldn’t have happened without the kind help of Hillside Evangelical Church, who provided us with the perfect venue for such a perfect night. Want to thank them all, especially the women’s fellowship, who coordinated the setup of the space, arranged hospitality and supported the event throughout the evening.
Their contribution played a central role in creating the welcoming and collaborative atmosphere that made the event such as success.
In the end, Sandra, Orla and the ReLoved volunteers created a full-house community moment where people were seen, celebrated and cheered on.
The team are already talking about a follow-up…
