t’s the price of progress, of course, and the fact that we live in one of the most popular parts of Ireland.

As more and more houses are built, more and more of the old landscape gets morphed and mangled to fit those new additions.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again, as the crow flies, these days, you could travel pretty easily from Delgany to Greystones purely through housing estates.

As the latest big chunk of houses get their final lick of paint up in Delgany, the 8-foot wall that once kept the village safe from the Cafferky kids is now being torn down.

One observer welcomed the fact that the notoriously thin and winding road would now be widened.

Which is, of course, a fine silver lining. But, Jaysus, losing that great big old wall is a dirty, big black cloud too…
