Tara Home And Getting Stronger

It’s a tragedy that devastated two families, and an entire community, and now, thankfully, the young girl found unconscious on Kilcoole’s main street in the early hours of Saturday, April 14th is home and on the path to recovery.

It’s going to be a long trek, of course, and Tara Houlihan’s family have just issued a statement, thanking everyone who has helped them get this far.

Tara’s parents, Greg and Theresa, said, “We are very grateful for the continued support and good wishes from the community. Tara has been released home under our care while we wait for a place at the National Rehabilitation Hospital and for further procedures.

“As can be appreciated, this has and is taking a huge toll on us as a family, and while Tara continues to recover, the journey is uncertain, and our new normality is still unknown.”

The Beechdale residents – who released their statement through Cllr Tom Fortune – finished by stating simply, “Sincere thanks from the Houlihan family.”

Offers of help from the Kilcoole community have flooded in since Tara returned home, offering to sit with the young woman or attend to any of the family’s needs in caring for her.
