Jaysus, after all these years, you’d think GG would have twigged that, around here, pretty much everyone is related to, well, pretty much everyone.
And so, when we were getting excited and delighted about the new 45-acre Belmont Demesne earlier this month, we should have guessed that this is a little sister to the 800-acre Killruddery estate next door.
The 800-acre, 17th century Killruddery estate right next door, with the fancy-pants mansion and all the groovy weekend happenings.Â
Here’s just hoping that the Belmont Demesne gang will actually return our begging emails.
Either way, it’s a beautiful place, and no mistake, and calling up this afternoon for their little lunch launch to say thank you to all those who had helped this seven year itch finally become a reality, it was clear that the Brazabon family behind these neighbouring paradises are pretty sound people.
Taking some shots in the slightly enormous walled-in garden surrounding the central restaurant, Bak’d at Arthur’s Barn (the building being left over from Disney’s King Arthur shoot in 2003), we bumped into David, the smiley and quite possibly Australian husband to Celia Brabazon. Which was handy, given that we knew pretty close to nothing about Belmont Demesne, other than it had been home to a few film and TV shoots, and that nature boy Alec Dunne held his hugely popular Forest Club camps here.
You can find out more about Belmont Demesne on their website here, and about the Brabazon clan and Killruddery House here. In the meantime, take it away, young Dave…
