The annual Christmas Day Swim is a tradition that some people know must be upheld at all costs, after all – no matter what the weather.
That the temperatures have been unseasonably warm of late would have helped though, with that light coating of rain the only true sign that this was actually a winter’s day.
And with The Cove becoming the town’s no.1 swimming hole, it was a
Christmas Day Swim of two halves, with The South Beach once again having to share the day with its popular little brother.
Hopefully, the two rival splash-and-dash spots will gradually go full tribal, and we can soon add an annual battle to the day’s festivities.
In the meantime, another of the town’s great Christmas Day traditions is, of course, the appearance of whipper snapper John McGowan, who, as always, headed down to capture all the shiny, wobbly people with his trusty camera by his side.
