Whatcha Got Cookin’…?

When Declan McLoughlin starts talking about the various people who have come to his door with gifts, goodies and donations for this year’s free Christmas dinner, it’s hard to not to feel a little Disney about the whole thing.

Mention of kids making Christmas logs to sell, shy individuals dropping by with bags overflowing, buskers a-boppin’, money being anonymously posted through the letterbox…

Heck, it’s enough to turn George Bailey into a blubbering wreck.

Swinging by this afternoon to see what might be still needed for the second of Bochelli’s big Christmas dinners for Tiglin residents and WH Five Loaves regulars – plus, it turns out, a few living alone in Greystones – we were reminded of Declan’s big-hearted gesture helping him win Greystones Person Of The Year last year.

Which reminded us, hey, we better switch on the searchlight for this year’s local hero. The problem being, of course, that there are just so many good people in our community who so clearly deserve such an award, from those in the charity field to the shy individual quietly making this town an even better place to live.
