Which makes a lot of sense, given that it covers a heck of a lot of ground. And pretty much all of it is feckin’ beautiful.
Starting out at Marlay Park in Dublin and ending up in Clonegal in County Carlow, most of the 131-kilometer walk is, of course, in Wicklow.
Which might explain why it’s just won the Irish Walking Trail Of The Year 2020.
The win was the result of a 2020 Ireland Walking Survey conducted last month, with 1,159 walkers taking part. The Wicklow Way received more votes than any other National Waymarked Trail in the country.
Hence the win. And sure, while they were at it, the voters crowned The Wicklow Mountains the Irish Upland Area Of The Year 2020.
Proper order.
