t was another very grand partee at Greystones Golf Club as this year’s Harry McCormack Memorial Golf Day took over on Friday.

With family members proudly sporting t-shirts with the simple line Harry’s Golf Day, it felt like the whole of Greystones had joined in the fun.

Certainly just about all of Upper Grattan Park was there, the home of the late, great Harry, who sadly left us on July 31st, 2021.

This annual event is an emotional one for Harry’s wife, Breda, and their seven kids, but it’s also clearly a joyful one.

Especially when one of those kids, Dawn, is celebrating her 21st yet again.

On the winning sheet for the day were, in 4th place, Derek McCormack, Jonathan Groome, Mark Carwood and Alex Cooper (6 under, 54.6); 3rd place went to Sean McCormack, Adam Packman, Flan Glynn and Diarmuid Fitzpatrick (12 under, 52.1); in 2nd place were Arron McCormack, Keith Lewis, Conor Scanlon and Eoin McGovern (12 under, 51.6).

Hitting no.1 on the day were Darren McCormack, Tommy Kezly, Dylan Archer and Adam McDonald, with 14 under, 51.5, the team winning by 0.1.

And we’re pretty sure some of those spellings might be wrong. Given that the person writing up the scores may have been a doctor. On a bike. Rolling down the Sugar Loaf.

There was a special tribute on the night to Hugo O’Brien too, a much-loved friend of everyone there who recently passed.
