he red carpet – and the red faces – were out in force last night for the Greystones Cancer Support’s Gala Concert at The Whale.
The red faces weren’t all about spilt wine, but also those lucky swines who won those Grade A, top-of-the-range, oven-ready prizes.
Prizes that totally justify the GCS gang dubbing their annual raffle a Super Draw.
Working backwards, eight prize of Brunch for 4 at Pigeon House went to Jerome O’Connor; 7th prize of home heating from Glen Fuels went to Valerie Flynn; 6th prize of a Four Ball from Delgany Golf Course went to Avril Carron; 5th prize of Afternoon Tea at Powerscourt was won by Gaye Cullen; 4th prize of a 2-hour flying lesson was won by the already-high-as-a-kite Eileen Brassington; 3rd prize of a case of champagne went home with Anna Doyle; 2nd prize of a Dash Cam drove home with Joanna Fortune, and the first prize of a €1,000 SuperValu shopping spree went to Catherine McIlveen.
The lucky, lucky swine.
Entertainment on the night was provided by Dry Rain’sAlive Alive O, celebrating the old Irish traditions of séan nos, stories around the fireplace and not checking your phone for over 10 minutes.
Oh, and a younger, surprisingly ginger Elvis popped by too. Just to add a little spice and herbs to the night.
Well done to Kathleen and the Greystones Cancer Support gang. And to The Whale’s Ross McParland, of course, for hosting such a grand Greystones night out.
Sure, the joint was rockin’.
And a big thanks to John McGowan, for capturing all these shiny, happy people – right here…
