reystones Cancer Support are celebrating their 25th birthday this year, and that made their annual Summer Lunch a little more special than usual.

There were hugs, laughter and free food aplenty.

Which may explain the dirty big grins in all these shots.

Also on the day, the bould Niamh Fortune launched her powerful and personal story, The Aftermath, charting her journey through cancer diagnosis, treatment and survival.

Also on hand was Alan McDonald, who presented Greystones Cancer Support with an oversized cheque for €4,140, raised by his recent Santiago de Compostela Camino Walk.

And if all that wasn’t enough, sure, wasn’t there two birthdays too, Delia Barry hitting a sprightly 80 and Minella Seery hitting a crackin’ 90. Boom!

Entertainment was provided by the GCS singing group Canadh Le Cheile, who presented their acclaimed medley of 1980s trash metal favourites. Sweet! The gang will next be performing a charity concert for Tallaght Cancer Support, in July, and will be part of August’s Heritage Week, setting up their stall at St Crispin’s Cell.

Catching all the glitz, glamour and gateaux was the ever-reliable John McGowan, who, we hear, is still up at The Glenview. Testing the true limits of the all-you-can-eat bar.
