Gina McKenna Burns

he Boat Yard Gallery are continuing their new monthly outdoor exhibition weekends with something of a curiosity for May.

On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd, mother and daughter Gina and Katelyn will have their works sitting pretty, side-by-side.

Gina McKenna Burns has established herself as one of the town’s most popular painters whilst daughter Katelyn has found her own particular voice through a series of striking digital art portraits of local landmarks.

Katelyn & Gina…

Gina McKenna Burns is a Greystones artist who graduated in Fine Art from the Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork.

A lover of water and the sea, Gina derives much creative inspiration from living by our beautiful Irish seashores. In common with her artistic and creative heroes – the brothers WB and Jack Yeats – Gina spent her formative years growing up by the inspirational County Sligo coastline, instilling in her a love of water which is now a recurring theme in her work. That work is a mixture of paintings and digital art media.

Gina has had a number of solo shows and has exhibited in many group shows over the years, including at the annual RHA and RUA shows in Dublin and Belfast. She has exhibited with the Boat Yard Gallery ever since it opened its doors back in 2015 and is delighted to be a part of its new summer series of weekend exhibitions. 

Katelyn graduated with first class BA (Hons) in Visual Communications at the National College of Art & Design, and amongst her past commissions are illustrating labels for the Battle of Kinsale Whiskey series for Cork’s Kinsale Spirit Company and illustrating a book of Irish ghost stories produced by Dun Laoghaire County Council. She is known for her mystical takes of Dublin, Greystones and other parts around Ireland. 

Gina and her daughter Katelyn McKenna who is a graphic designer and illustrator (and also a regular Boat Yard exhibitor) are delighted to co-host their joint exhibition together.
