atie Taylor remains the undisputed lightweight champion of the world after outclassing Argentine Karen Elizabeth Carabajal last night.

The roars of approval that greeted the win at Wembley Arena reflected just how much of an icon the Bray boxer has become.

The win means that Katie Taylor retains her IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO belts.

It was a unanimous decision victory over the unheralded 32-year-old Argentinian, who was clearly game but not quite ready for such an seasoned opponent. For Carbajal, it was her first loss in 20 fights.

The scoreline was 100-91, 99-91, 98-92, with Taylor immediately reiterating her intention for her next fight to be at Croke Park.

This is Katie’s 22 professional win – her first being at this very same venue back in 2016 – and it was clear that she had come a long way, baby.

By the eight round, Carbajal was knocked off her balance by two quick left hooks from Taylor, who dominated throughout.

Although the feisty Argentinian came out all guns blazing for the final round, two looping right hands from Taylor were enough to leave Carbajal with blood streaming down her face when the final whistle blew.
