aving been on hold for the past three years, the Greystones Cancer Support gang happily hosted their annual Christmas Lunch this afternoon.
And sure, the laughter, the love and the Guinness did flow.
Having once again helped so many people throughout 2022, this annual GCS get-together is more than just a chance for those who work at the La Touche Place centre to let their hair down and take their teeth out. It’s also the perfect opportunity for those whose lives have been touched by The Big C to come together and recognise that you can actually get by with a little help from your friends.
There’s strength in numbers. Especially when you’re dealing with the Greystones Cancer Support gang.
“It’s always a joy to see so many people at one of our Christmas lunches,” says GCS member Anne Bateman. “It’s been a tough few years for everyone, but when you also have to live through the experience of cancer, it’s so important to know that you’re not alone…”
Something the 150 guests at The Parkview Hotel proved.
As the carols kicked off (courtesy of Canadh le Cheile), the big raffle got underway, and the thank yous for another year of love and support rang out into the night, the sheer gratitude in the room was palpable.
There to capture it all was our #1 roving photographer John McGowan…
