ollowing reports this morning that Wicklow’s Beyond The Pale festival was cancelled, some of the Glendalough music festival staff began dismantling stages and infrastucture.

Only for the organisers to inform The Irish Examiner this afternoon that the festival will be going ahead.

The cancellation announcements came with claims that the some booking agents had been contacted Friday night and informed the festival wasn’t going ahead.

Having won Best Small Festival at last year’s Irish Music Organisation awards, tickets for the festival were still for sale this evening.

Due to run over the weekend of June 13th to 15th, headliners include Jon Hopkins, Róisín Murphy and TV On The Radio.

Reports of the cancellation follow the loss of the Forever Young last year, as well as Indiependence in Cork and Sea Sessions in Donegal.

Beyond The Pale had doubled its attendance last year to 10,000 people and boasted 15 stages last year, with 12,000 having been predicted for this year’s festival.

Late on Saturday, the organisers confirmed that the festival was indeed going ahead, stating, “it’s unbelievably tough out there for independent festivals, venues, promoters, artists… we all know that. Today we very nearly stumbled, not going to lie.

“But the festival gods smiled upon us, and the fate of Beyond the Pale is secure for 2025, and for many years to come.”
