Forever Young & Quinn… THURS12OCT23
ever one to miss some free cake, Kathleen Kelleher caught today’s 80th birthday lunch celebrations
for Fr. Denis Quinn and Fr. Gerald Young…
This was a really, really nice event.
Dr. Brendan Cuddihy was the host who took the microphone to welcome everyone. He expressed best wishes to the two priests for achieving their 80 years and thanked them for their service.
Brendan then introduced the two curates who each said a few words.
Fr. Gerald Young expressed his thanks to the people of Greystones for welcoming him to the parish. He has been delighted to serve in Greystones and thanked parishioners for their care of him.
Fr. Denis Quinn has always been enthusiastic about serving in Greystones. He considers the parishioners as his friends and this feeling is reciprocated.
Fr. Denis’ time in Greystones has been a happy time and he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. He was as cheerful today as he always is.
Parishioners then sang Happy Birthday and, of course, there was a birthday cake. Former Greystones curates and Parish Priests were also in attendance; Fr. Paul Kenny, Fr. Owen Lynch, Fr. John McDonagh, and Fr. Enda Lloyd. They too received a great welcome from their former parishioners.
A light lunch was served, catered by Tom Horan and the Parish Catering Team. Cocktail sausages, cheeseboard, quiche, smoked salmon – all were delicious and readily eaten.
And along with the birthday cake, if you were thirsty, there was tea and coffee, red & white wine and water.
The catering team was hard at work, making sure that everyone had something to eat or drink.
The atmosphere in Kilian House was lively and positive, with 250 or so people there in good cheer.
It was obvious from their response that they were very fond of the two birthday curates.
Nice. Thanks and praise, as always, to John McGowan for capturing all the fun of the party.
