ry as we might, it was hard to get even two words out of the lovely Natalia today.
Chances are, the lady’s just shy.
Then again, she could be simply shocked that she and her hubby, Tudor, are finally realising their dream of seven years – opening their very own traditional fish & chip shop.
And best of all, they’re opening right here in Greystones, where, the happy new proprietors are quick to remind GG this afternoon, the people are “truly beautiful”.
For many, the day this handy chipper on the main street said goodbye to Fiore and Anna – back on September 22nd, 2018, actual date fans – it felt like the end of an era. And if Giulio just about managed to fill that gap, it was clear this chipper needed that family touch.
Which is where the bould Tudor and Natalia – and their two delighted kids – come in. It was Natalia, working in traditional fish and chip takeways in Dublin, who first fell in love with the idea of the couple one day opening their own.
And so it has come to pass. Rechristened Moretti’s, the doors will open at 4pm today – give or take – and will then be open from 12.30pm to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and 3pm to 11pm on Sundays.
We’ll have the full menu available soon but, suffice to say, it’s a little more expansive than before, with 14 different burgers to choose from, eight different servings of chips, a selection of seven different kebabs, diet pittas, baguettes & wraps, southern fried chicken, fresh fish and, of course, treats (such as milkshakes and ice cream).
Bejiggers, we do love a happy ending – especially when it involves chippy chips…
