he weather might be turning a little damp as the darkness kicks in, but that shouldn’t stop Greystones’ ghouls, ghosts and gargoyles.

With the night comes the sweeties, and to the early birds, the spoils.

We had one industrious trio knock on our door as the clock struck 12 today. Only, not midnight, but noon.

And around de town, some beautifully haunted houses have been helping us all get into that Halloween mood, and bring a little dark magic into our young kids’ lives.

And some sweeties.

Gotta hand it to the Firehouse Bakery too, who went all out this year. With not one but two small fake pumpkins, an even smaller fake skull and a tiny witch statue in their window. Muly tragical.

There were plenty of Greystonians who went far above and beyond the call of duty, including the O’Faherty’s truly scary scarecrow and Helen Magee’s tipsy pumpkin, plus the Kavanaghs, who turned their Hillside home into a spine-tingling haunted house, the Buckleys in Thorndale who did a fine Monster Mash of their Thorndale HQ, complete with outdoor disco.

And then there’s the always-reliable, always-fun Tanya Hayes and her gang, Kaylee and James plus Greystones Cutest Baby winner Jason, the always-imaginative Cox clan down in Marina Village, Clodagh K’s gathering of young ghouls and gals, Éire Óg’s spooktacular afternoon party, and the Brambells in Hillside, bringing everyone’s true nightmare for 2024 into town with the door-stepping Donald Djinn Trump.

Oh, and if you’ve ever wondered why monsters never eat ghosts, that’s because they taste like sheet.

We’ll be adding our gallery of Halloween in Greystones 2021 over the coming days, so do send us your photos and videos, where’er you should live. Even Newtown.

In fact, we’re happy to include scary monsters and super creeps from all over the globe. Even those feckless fecks who turned their backs on The Greatest Town On Elvis’ Green Earth.
