hat fecker Covid wasn’t about to call a halt to Bray Camera Club’s 50th anniversary celebrations this weekend.
Especially when they knew that Greystones’ finest, John McGowan, would be popping along.
Fittingly, they gathered on the steps of what is now Accident Repair Management on Lower Dargle Road, given that this was the very first meeting place for the club all those years ago.
With their Monday evening meetings at the Mermaid Arts Centre currently migrated on Zoom, a spokesperson stated, “Through thick and thin, and without interruption since our foundation in 1971, the club has provided a forum for our members to learn from and support one another, to improve our photographic skills and to give wings to our artistic potential.”
More importantly, every Monday evening there would be post-match pints in Frank Duff’s pub.
Today, it was the People’s Park, as that all-important birthday cake was unleashed, and members shared stories of yore as the club prepares to create an historical archive full of anecdotes and pics.
A big Happy Birthday to Bray Camera Club, and a big thank you to the bould John for capturing the big day…
