n the same week as the Greystones Tidy Towns gang collected 13 bags of rubbish in the area, Cllr Mags Crean issued a press release on the growing problem of litter and dumping at The Cliff Walk starting point…

Independent Councillor Mags Crean has expressed concern about the ongoing litter and dumping spot at The Cliff Walk.

I have contacted the local district council office and the Environment section in Wicklow County Council regarding the issue of ongoing littering and dumping around the area between The Cliff walk near the exit to The Grove.

I have been informed by the local district engineer that this issue has been forwarded to the Director of Environment and that the issue is being looked into.

I will continue to monitor this and ensure that a long-term solution is found. But we also need the public to change this type of behaviour.

Other countries have fewer public bins but less litter than Ireland, so a major cultural shift is needed to address this issue once and for all.
