Over €12,000 raised from the inaugural Colin O’Mahony Golf Classic in aid of Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services and Greystones Cancer Support Group.

The family and friends of the late Colin O’Mahony from Delgany, County Wicklow organised a Golf Classic in cooperation with Delgany Golf Club in recognition of the great care Colin received from Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services and Greystones Cancer Support before he passed on March 30th 2024.

The Golf Classic was held on Thursday, June 20th 2024 and was a resounding success. Twenty teams took part in the afternoon shotgun competition and a further 60 guests joined the golfers for dinner, prize-giving and then dancing.

The Captain Of Delgany Golf Club, Sean O’ Rourke, along with Allison Ryder from Wicklow Hospice and Amanda Lawless from Greystones Cancer Support Group attended the presentation of the cheque this week by Colin’s wife Julie. “We are thrilled with the success of this event and are so grateful to the many business and friends for their support.

“The beautiful trophy has room for 50 teams so we look forward to running this event for many more years and continuing to support these two amazing charities who provided so much help to our family and continue to assist many other local families.”

Julie and the family also wanted to thank everyone who supported March’s event, including helpers Gerry, Vicky, Brian, Denise, Claire, Gillian and Lorraine, and the many, many local business who sponsored the day, including Just Eat, The Woods Group, Ri-Ra Beer, Centra Eden Gate, Flanagan Kerins, Identity Promotions, Dual Private Client Insurance along with numerous others who sponsored tees and provided raffle prizes.

Entries are now open for the 2025 Colin O’Mahony Memorial Golf Classic which will be held on Thursday June 19th 2025 in Delgany Golf Club.
