In the bag…

t was every student and teacher for themselves at the St David’s Sport Day this afternoon.

Whatever about the friendships and truces forged in the classrooms, out on the Éire Óg Greystones grounds, it was all about the power, and the glory.

And the win.

Which might explain the war paint. In truth, we’re not actually sure who won what, given that, we’re reliably informed, that’s all being kept under wraps until next week’s big presentation day thingy.

What we do know is that, on the tug of war front, the highly-anticipated teachers vs six year students women’s showdown saw the younger generation pull back the win for 2023.

And billed as the big finale to the day, the teachers went up against the sixth year students for a men’s annual football match, with the latter resoundly beating the former.

So, a double-win this year for the mighty and strong sixth year students. And a double-loss for the pathetic and weak teachers. Nice.

In the thick of it all, checking for steroids and making sure everyone played fair, was our whistle-toting no.1 roving photographer, John McGowan.

Well done to everyone who took part, and big, big congrats to the winners. Whoever you are.
