Whoever ends up buying the old Gaisford St Lawrence home may want to consider that, despite being zoned largely residential and falling within the Local Area Plan for Delgany, Kilcoole and Greystones, numerous planning applications for this prime location have fallen by the wayside.
The latest rejection happening this year, when Ronan’s RGRE J&R Stylebawn Ltd tried for 42 apartments, and the conversion of the house itself and its gardener’s cottage into two houses. There was also a second application for 99 apartments on the land.
Over the years, Ronan has had plenty of designs on Style Bawn, the developer having purchased the property in 2004.
Following the string of planning rejections, it’s perhaps unsurprising that the latest feasibility study for Style Bawn – conducted by MOLA Architecture – recommends a smaller residential scheme of up to 90 units rather than the 143 proposed by Ronan.
