Don’t Stop Believin’

Chances are, if you’re over the age of 2, your life has been affected in one way or another by cancer.

Through a loved one, a friend, a neighbour, a sibling, a dad, a mum…

The fact that this little bastard disease cares not who, where or why it strikes means that we’re all vulnerable. And we all like to believe that should cancer come into our lives, we’ll look it straight in the eye, and hit it with all the love of life that we have.

That’s certainly the case with Charlesland mum Monika Panova, a fitness instructor and nutritionist who had long been treating her body like a temple when a malignant little thief struck on December 1st.

After a few hours of crying about her breast cancer diagnosis, Monika vowed to fight it with every weapon that she could find. As well as attending her doctor, and lining up chemotherapy, there was also the ever-expanding avenue of alternative medicine to explore.

When it came to the latter, Germany’s Klinik im Leben and Hufeland Klinik have both given many cancer patients reasons to be hopeful, which is why Monika has set up a GoFundMe page. You can check out our earlier story here for more info.

In the meantime, we caught up with Monika in her local Tigernut Café this afternoon, to talk mastectomies, medicines, motherhood and being match fit…
