rom the start, the creation of We Turned Tears Into Laughter hit pretty much everyone in the feels…

The journey of local people dealing with the arrival of cancer into their lives, this collection of essays was not only cathartic, it was also a shot straight from the heart.

For the sales of this remarkable book – launched back on October 15th, 2015 – was all going to Greystones Cancer Support.

So Kathleen Kelleher could finally get that deluxe jacuzzi she has earmarked for their La Touche Place HQ.

Well, this morning, after all the tears had been wiped and the money had been counted up, a cheque for a whopping great €8,600 was handed over to Greystones Cancer Support by these wonderful writers.

And we should give a shout-out once more to all of them – Deirdre, Sallie, Ann, Beatrice O’Hanlon, Dymphna Davis, Eileen Harris, Katie Kearney, Elizabeth Kinsella, Margaret Gerrard, Maria Romankin, Anna, Valerie Murray, Shay Kiernan, Marilyn O’Connor and Paddy Monaghan.

Nice work, kids. Except for one or two notable exceptions.

Back in 2015, the Greystones Right2Write group said of their book, ‘we hope you will get inspiration, courage and joy from these wonderful stories’.
