Signal Arts Centre is very proud to present the latest exhibition by Finnish artist Kaisa Ypya, running from April 17th to May 7th.

When creating this collection of watercolour paintings, Kaisa Ypya wanted to look into how tumultuous nature can be and how there is beauty in its destructiveness, volatility and its ability to create both life and death.

With every storm, every dying leaf or freezing river, nature is showing us how small and insignificant we are and that we are here just for a blink of an eye, as visitors. We try to grasp the magnificence of the world, and almost always fail.

When choosing her subject matters, Kaisa found herself to be especially drawn to misty landscapes, cold winters and changes that happen in between weather changing gears. The intoxicating instability.

Kaisa is originally from Finland and has lived in Ireland for the last 15 years. Her background is in Fine Art and Art Facilitation. In her art work she usually focuses on nature themes and mainly uses watercolour, paying special attention to perception of light and colours.

Running until May 7th, the official launch of Fading Light – Kaisa’s second solo exhibition at Signal – is on Friday, April 21st, from 7pm to 9pm, all welcome. Even you. More info here.
