Greystones Community College Goes To Tender

The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly today welcomed the news that Greystones Community College has been given the green light to go to tender.

The school had been impacted by the temporary funding delay but has now been told by the Department of Education it is being moved to the next stage.

With full planning permission in place it is expected the school will be able to get the tender process completed within a matter of months.
Minister Donnelly said he would be working hard to get the project progressed. “I’m absolutely delighted to see the school getting the go ahead to move to the tender stage.

“My understanding from talking to officials within the Department is that it should proceed pretty quickly as it is a much sought after project.

“It has been a long road for the school to get to this point but today’s announcement is a huge step in the right direction.

“The parents and school management have rightly been pushing hard to see building work start as soon as possible.

“I’ll continue to work closely with them to make sure the project continues to progress.

“The parents and pupils as well as staff at GCC deserve their new state-of-the-art school to be open at the earliest possible time.

“Today is a brilliant day for the school but there’s still a lot of work left to be done to get to where we need to be.”
