aving wowed the kids of Greystones with his Sunday walkabout, Santa Claus has been given a special thank you present by the town.

And given that it’s fresh of the press, what better present than the latest Pictorial History of Greystones by the Paine boys…?

Having travelled all the way over from his holiday home in Holyhead, Santa and his not-so-little helper were the guests of honour at a special presentation at Greystones Municipal District offices yesterday. As the bould Kathleen Kelleher explains…

Our twinning partners from Holyhead made a visit to Greystones last weekend, and, as thank you, the group was presented with a copy of Gary Paine’s latest book, donated by the author to the Holyhead team.

The links between Greystones and Holyhead – and Wales, in general – go back to the last century, and, fittingly, these important connections are well documented in Gary’s book. Our cousins across The Irish Sea will be returning in March, for St David’s Day – he’s the patron saint of Wales, after all – and, once again, for our Paddy’s Day Parade.

You can grab yourself a copy of the latest Paine collection at Greystones Antiques, right by the train station.

Just €35 for what took young Gary just 11 years to complete. Book no.9 is due in 2075.
